Zoetis Sues Dechra Over Copy of Drug to Treat Dog, Cat Vomiting

Zoetis, the maker of Cerenia, an injectable drug used to treat severe vomiting in cats and dogs, alleged in a lawsuit that Dechra’s generic version, Emavert, infringed a patent.

  • Zoetis is seeking an injunction preventing Dechra from manufacturing its product until the patent expires and cash compensation if it is done before that time, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware
  • The patent is entitled “Antimicrobial Preservatives for Achieving a Multi-Dose Formulation with Beta-Cyclodextrins for Liquid Dosage Forms,” says the lawsuit and expires in January 2027: supplementary application
