Leilani Alvarez, DVM, DACVSMR: The most newly recognized specialty by the AVMA [American Veterinary Medical Assocition] is the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and I am a diplomate of that college. Because it is the newest specialty recognized by the AVMA, a lot of people still don’t know about it, so they see these letters after our name and [say]’oh I have never seen that before.’
