Biden calls on two democratic lawmakers to block the agenda

President Joe Biden on Tuesday called on two Democrats to explain why he failed to implement some of the most ambitious elements of his agenda, noting that tight majorities in the House of Representatives and the evenly divided Senate have hampered legislative negotiations on important issues such as voting rights. Biden, speaking during an event marking the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa massacre, responded to critics asking why he was unable to pass a sweeping suffrage law. “Well, because Biden only has a majority of effectively four votes in the House of Representatives and a tie in the Senate – with two Senate members voting more with my Republican friends,” he complained.
