The Gray Bruce Health Unit is looking for the owner of a cat that bit a woman Tuesday night in Meaford.

At around 7:30 p.m., the woman was bitten by an adult male Siamese cat with a dark red collar. The woman attempted to pet the “well-groomed cat” that had been seen frequently around the Georgian Trail and William Croft Athletic Field, a health unit said in a press release.

The health unit staff must confirm that the cat is not infected with rabies. By checking the cat’s health, the bitten woman can avoid rabies treatment after exposure.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact the health unit at 519-376-9420 (extension). 1355.
