Tikola McCree was out with friends at the Foxcroft Wine Company when she noticed a couple on the patio having their dog lick their plates, utensils and cutting board, WSOC-TV reported.
“Let me put this out there, I’m a dog lover and I think since we’re getting out of a pandemic I don’t think this was the way to go for the restaurant,” she said.
She took a photo and sent a complaint to the county health department. An inspector followed. They said the utensil contamination was a violation, but the restaurant otherwise followed state guidelines and no further action was required.
The health inspector told staff that they “cannot allow dogs to eat or lick utensils from reusable plates, even if those items are being washed. If customers want to provide their pets with food or water, single-use items can be used and then disposed of. “
The restaurant was not fined.
