BALTIMORE (WJZ) – A stray, dead cat found in the Belair-Parkside neighborhood on Tuesday tested positive for rabies.
The cat was found on the 3800 block of Parkside Drive. If you think you may have had contact with the cat, call the Acute Communicable Disease Office during regular business hours at 410-396-4436 or after hours at 410-396-3100.
According to Animal Control, rabies is a deadly disease caused by a virus that attacks the nervous system. It is usually transmitted to people by getting saliva into an open wound or other opening.
If you are bitten or exposed to an animal you believe is rabid, flush the wound with soap and water and contact medical services.
