From a young age in South Africa, model airplanes were a popular pastime for Rowan Milner, director of clinical science in small animals at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

At the same time, Milner was looking for a vaccine that had been shown to prolong and even cure the lives of some dogs with melanoma.

His hope is to eventually expand this technology to children with cancer by applying what is known as the “One Medicine” concept.
