A truck driver is being hailed as a hero for saving a puppy’s life.
Aaron Kinsel, who works at Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Cincinnati, was working his usual route when he noticed a backpack lying on the side of the road.
“After additional observation, he noticed the bag was moving, so he got out of the truck to investigate,” a press release from the company notes.
Kinsel was shocked when he looked inside and found a “distraught” 10-week old puppy.

The female Boxer-mix was taken to a local vet where she is being treated for dehydration. She also has a broken leg, which will either require either amputation or an expensive surgery, according to PEOPLE.
Kinsel and his family will pay for the puppy’s treatment to ensure she makes a full recovery.
According to WLWT, he said that they may take the advice of vets since surgery could cause more problems for the pup’s health down the line.
“I felt like I was meant to find her,” he said, who has decided to adopt the puppy and name her Tipper.
According to the release, the name is fitting as a tipper is “mechanism used on the back of residential garbage trucks that helps pick up trash containers.”
“You could call it a driver’s helper,” the release added.
Rumpke is helping local authorities with their investigation.
“For their safety, as well as for the safety of our customers, Rumpke drivers are trained to remain observant. We do our best to take care of our communities and always do the right thing,” Kendra Catherman, Cincinnati safety manager at Rumpke, said in the statement.
“We are very proud of Aaron and delighted to make Tipper an honorary member of our Rumpke team,” she added.
