Tompkins County Health Department looking for dog for rabies check

ITHACA, NY (WHCU) – The Tompkins County Health Department is seeking help from the public in finding a dog to rule out potential rabies exposure.

A medium-sized, short-haired brown dog who resembles a boxer has a dog on Sunday the 22nd.nd around 9 a.m. The dog was on a leash and was being led with several other dogs by a woman with short brown hair. The dog broke away from the woman before biting the person.

The incident is believed to have occurred in one of the blocks between Meadow Street and North Plain Street. The health department must check the vaccination status and health of the dog to rule out a risk of rabies for the bitten person.
