PARSIPPANY, NJ – Veterinary mental health and wellbeing has become a major trending topic in the dairy industry in recent months as the number of veterinarians suicides has increased.
Zoetis encourages members of the dairy industry to promote the awareness and means of support to dairy veterinarians, who have a unique bond and relentless commitment to the protection and care of cattle. Participants will have the opportunity to identify and nominate dairy veterinarians in their lives to receive a personalized jacket.
For each nomination, Zoetis donates to Not One More Vet – a 32,000-member nonprofit that helps veterinarians and students struggling with mental health, well-being or contemplating suicide through education, resources, and support.
This is how the Zoetis Honor Your Dairy Vet campaign works:
Step 1: nominate your dairy veterinarian or veterinarians.
Zoetis encourages attendees to visit HonorDairyVets.com by June 30 to submit a nomination for a practicing dairy or mixed beef veterinarian who skipped dinner to raise a calf; who leaves the courtyard with a sore shoulder after repairing a displaced abomasum; or who is special to you, your family and your cows. You can nominate as many vets as you want – and every single vet you nominate will be eligible for selection.
Step 2: Zoetis donates.
For each nomination, Zoetis will donate $ 5 to NOMV, up to $ 10,000. The more vets you recognize and celebrate, the more Zoetis donates.
Step 3: Selected vets receive a personalized jacket.
Each week in June, three milk and cattle practicing vets are randomly selected to receive a personalized weatherproof jacket that is great for farm visits.
Zoetis asks for your help and participation in this campaign – because losing another vet is one too many. To participate, visit HonorDairyVets.com or follow Dairy Wellness on Facebook and Twitter.
