Cave Veterinary Specialists in West Buckland, Somerset, is accredited by the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine to conduct veterinary internal medicine programs for small animals.

The first residents of the practice are Sara Cermeno Fernandez and Lucy Venman (picture right), who started their programs last month after completing successful internships.

Cave’s clinical director, Nele Van den Steen, RCVS and European specialist in internal medicine, said: “We are of course very pleased to have reached this milestone and look forward to starting theirs with our first residents Sara and Lucy continue professional development with us.

“To be admitted to a residency program, you have to show that you can support the required number of cases and provide the training that the residents need.

“So this accreditation shows that we have the integrity and ability to support the program. This is a remarkable achievement and an endorsement of our work here at Cave.”
