Shawn Mendes, Doja Cat, 21 Pilots and More will be added to the MTV VMAs range of benefits in 2021

Shawn Mendes, Doja Cat, Chlöe and Twenty One Pilots were the performance line-up for the 2021 MTV Video Music Awardsthe network announced on Tuesday, August 24th.

The four acts will come together Olivia Rodrigo, Gentlemen, Lil Nas X, Kelly machine gun, Foo fighters, and Camila Cabello in a top-class lineup. This year’s VMAs will be broadcast live on September 12th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Chlöe, who is half of Chlöe x Halle, will make her solo debut with the TV premiere of “Have Mercy” from her upcoming album. Their set is a continuation of last year’s VMA pre-show performance by Chlöe x Halle, in which the sisters sang a sparkling rendition of “Ungodly Hour”.

After a detached event in 2020, the VMAs are returning with a live audience in 2021. “MTV and the Barclays Center are working closely with state and local officials to implement best practices and create a groundbreaking spectacle that brings music fans from around the world together, while keeping the health and safety of our artists, fans, employees and partners the same. Priority # 1, ”the organizers said in a statement on MTV News. No vaccine requirements are mentioned, but New York has already introduced a mandatory vaccination requirement for indoor activities, due to begin in mid-September.

Due to the proximity of the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, MTV plans to work with the non-profit organization for the 11th time.

2020 unique event presented The weeknd, CNCO, Roddy Ricch and Maluma. Other artists included BTS, J Balvin and Doja Cat in a variety of performances in New York City during the awards ceremony.

Lady Gaga and BTS were the big winners at the MTV VMAs 2020, running away with five and four awards respectively.

Three of Gaga’s trophies were shared with Ariana Grande for their joint track “Rain On Me”, including Song Of The Year, Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography. The couple also performed the track live for the first time at the socially distant ceremony.
