Scenthound Canine Wellness Indicators 20-Unit Improvement Deal in MD, VA

Press release: Scenthound

Scenthound, the nation’s first wellness-focused, membership-based dog grooming franchise, is ready to help dog parents in the Mid-Atlantic region keep their fur families clean and healthy. Shortly after the Atlanta market sold out last month, Scenthound signed another development agreement for 20 units with Dean DeGood, a new franchisee. DeGood will bring the emerging dog grooming concept to Virginia and Maryland. Scenthound now has a total of 80 units sold in 16 states with 16 franchise partners. Scenthound plans to sell 100 units and open about 30 locations this year.

Prior to joining Scenthound, DeGood owned and operated Doggywalker.com, a Virginia dog walk and pet care service with more than 85 employees and 70,000 animal visits annually. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, a regional leader in community-based animal welfare. DeGood holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. With a strong passion for animals, DeGood looks forward to continuing its animal care efforts with its new scenters this fall.

“Both my professional and personal life are all about dogs and making their lives better,” said DeGood. “After learning about Scenthound, I firmly believed in it [its] Concept and effects [it makes] in both pets [lives] and the lives of their owners. I look forward to continuing to make a meaningful difference in the canine communities in Virginia and Maryland as Scenthound has made across the country. “

Scenthound takes a wellness-based approach that is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of dogs. Embedded in the name, Scenthound focuses on the five core areas of grooming: skin, fur, ears, nails and teeth. The employees (“Scent Techs”) are trained to regularly provide every dog with the care it needs. The membership program gives dog parents the peace of mind that their dog will be routinely groomed. Pet parents can choose an affordable membership plan that works best for their dog and purchase additional services if needed.

The concept was founded in 2015 after CEO Tim Vogel had run both a mobile care company and local care businesses for more than 10 years. Vogel saw firsthand the shortcomings in the booming pet industry and the lack of education regarding dog care. He started a mission to provide dogs and their owners with a quick, easy, and affordable solution that not only keeps them clean and looking good, but also maintains their overall health and wellbeing.

“We are very excited to welcome Dean to Scenthound, along with his animal-related background who will serve him well as a Scenthound franchise partner,” said Vogel. “Educating pet parents is critical to our goal of breaking down barriers so people can love and interact with their dogs every day. Dean’s background, passion, and knowledge will be extremely valuable in fulfilling our mission to keep dogs clean and healthy throughout the Maryland / Virginia area. “
