Hey Winston:
I am known as “Scratt the Cat!” Although I am not yet a “senior”, I am 7 years old. I am a tall, long, slender, black panther who looks alike. If you’ve always wanted to own your own mini panther, I’m your type!
I was taken to the shelter with my sister in December when the owner surrendered. My sister was always the “social butterfly” and greeted everyone at the shelter every day, fluttering her pretty kitten eyelashes and just exuding her special feline charm. She was lucky to have already been adopted. I’m definitely not a butterfly and I’m patiently waiting for my turn. I never really connected with her so it was okay for her to get on with her life.
What can i tell you about myself Well, for starters, I’m a very, very gentle guy. I prefer to sit back and watch what is going on around me instead of running around and playing with the other cats. I would like to be welcomed into a nice, quiet home with only adults in the household. Other cats in the household are fine with me.
I like to lie in scratching posts and hang out in “hidden houses” where I can only think about life, especially my future life in a new home.
I find it stressful at times, especially with all the noises going on here and of course with all the other animals having their say! The staff cleans! The phones are ringing! The public is visiting! And I just want peace and quiet. In fact, what I like to do is take a nap and snuggle up.
Although the shelter staff take great care of me and all of my needs are met, living here is sure to be a different experience than my old home.
I know my name when I am called and for the right person I would be out of my comfort zone!
My favorite treats are “temptations”. Winston, if anyone reading this is looking for a quiet, loving companion to sit by their side and listen to how their day has gone, I am the one. I’ll look out the window at the birds, curl up in a nice warm chair, and just be me – a cat named Scratt.
Thank you!
Sincerely, Scratt
Winston says:
Hello Scratt:
How are you? You definitely sound like the laid back guy. I am sure you are mesmerized with everything that goes on around you every day at the shelter. I know how hectic it can be at times. We will do our best to provide you with the perfect adoptive home that suits your calm personality. They know that in time, maybe in the right home, you will get more out of your shell and make your beautiful personality shine!
Don’t worry, Scratt, while kittens have no problem finding homes, not everyone wants to adopt a kitten – some are looking for a cat just like you. One who is a little older, a little wiser and does not need constant attention and supervision.
When I look into my Winston Crystal Ball, I see a new home in the near future! Readers, please call to make an appointment to meet this handsome young man or stop by our animal shelter. Scratt would love to meet you, and if you find out you’re not up to him, there are plenty more of his feline friends (and dogs, too!) In need of homes too.
Good luck Scratt!
Your friend Winston

Events
estimated
Since it is such a hectic time of year and the health and safety guidelines of the CDC are met, we ask all interested parties to visit our animal shelter to make an appointment.
This applies to the delivery of animals, for possible meet & greets for adoption purposes and for donations.
It would make things go so much smoother with set dates.
If you happen to stop by without an appointment, we may ask for your patience and ask you to wait in your car until we wait for the person in front of you.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Cat pride
Throwing program
We participate in the Cat’s Pride Litter for Good program – we received 4,000 pounds of cat litter based on nominations from the community.
This is an ongoing action. The more nominations, the more rubbish we get.
Trash, as you can imagine, is a huge expense for us so this would be a wonderful saver for our shelter.
The public is invited to participate as follows:
1. Go to katzenpride.com and sign up for the free Cat’s Pride Club.
2. Click the nominate button to receive junk.
3. Enter the bonus code 4GOOD and you will double your nomination for the animal shelter.
4. Buy a green pitcher of Cat’s Pride Fresh and Light – each time you do this, another pound of waste is added to the total amount donated.
