November is “Adopt Senior Pet Month.”
Consider saving a life and improving your own life by giving an older dog or cat a home. Many older pets are waiting in shelters in the hope of being part of a family again.
Sure, puppies and kittens are cute, but older pets are adorable too, usually softer and house trained too. In an older dog you can see what size and personality you get. And with ours “Certified Senior” Program, our veterinary team offers the medical assurance that your new family member will be healthy and happy for years to come.
Owning a pet has many health benefits. You can increase opportunities to get exercise, go outside, and socialize. Regularly walking or playing with pets can lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. Pets can help manage loneliness and depression.
The Gray Muzzle Organization, a national non-profit that has given us grants to help save older dogs in the past, envisions a world where older dogs thrive and no old dog dies alone and fearful.
While “Adopt Senior Pet Month” You can find your own gray-eyed friend with the Maui Humane Society with no adoption fees. We have some fantastic pets ready to go home with you. I can say from my own experience that a senior is a wonderful addition to the family.
You can be a hero by giving an older pet a chance to love and be loved again. In return, you will receive unconditional love and companionship.
