Internet users celebrate the impressive transformation of a rescue dog after their owner shares their emotional before-and-after photos.
Dog Tilly had been removed from her previous owners from a local animal shelter after seeing pictures of her dogs in unhealthy conditions that looked physically malnourished.
The new owner, Reddit user “hhc”, shared pictures of Tilly when she was first rescued compared to now – she looked like a whole new dog. Before that, she was malnourished, with clear ribs sticking out of her skin. Now she looks healthy and comfortable, cozy in her own bed.
In less than a day, the photos on Reddit won over 17,000 votes, and users rushed to practically applaud the difference.
“She is full and [is] from now on take it easy “, confirmed the owner.
“I adopted her through Dawgs Fight Back. You did the hard work getting her out of this situation, getting her treatment, and helping her recover. They take a lot of severe dog cases, “the owner wrote in a comment.
“Rescue convinced their owners to drop them and another dog in a similar condition after seeing photos someone shared. Unfortunately, there was a third dog that, as of the last time I knew, was not going to give up.”
Tilly’s new owner added that she has been doing well since adoption and has even exceeded expectations. “We expected her to have a lot of feeding problems (aggression, chasing our other dog, etc.) which would be a perfectly normal response to her trauma, but it wasn’t. She doesn’t even growl when our other dog is stealing their bones, “they wrote.
“She definitely patrols every room for food and wants to go in the trash (probably as she survived being chained outside for the first year of her life), but once she’s checked and double-checked, she settles down.”
After Tilly’s inspirational transformation was shared with the subreddit “pictures” it caught the attention of many – both heart breaking and melting at once.
“Kind-hearted people. It’s actually very nice,” commented one user.
“My heart breaks on the top two and stuck on the bottom again. Great job. Pure love,” added another.
Just like Tilly’s transformation, shelters across the US rushed to a rescue mission last month to rescue and house hundreds of battered dogs.
As recently reported by Newsweek, animal rescue organizations had to find homes for more than 300 cats and dogs following the closure of an Arkansas animal shelter and 285 animal cruelty charges.
The Humane Society of the Delta in Helena-West Helena was closed last week after police found out how the shelter was looking after animals. Director Reta Merritt Roberts was arrested and charged after officials found rats infesting the property, animals in dirty cages and others running around in the trash and living on the stench of urine.
In a collaborative effort, organizations like the BISSELL Pet Foundation and the Animal Rescue Corps took over the health tests, microchips, and health checks of the rescued animals before they searched for a forever home in hopes of transforming them like Tilly.
