ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Winnebago County Animal Services is offering cat and kitten adoptions at discounted rates on Friday June 25th and Saturday June 26th.

According to Winnebago County Animal Services, adult cat adoption costs just $ 10, while kitten adoption is half the usual $ 85 adoption fee.

“Between 75 and 100 cats and kittens come to our facility every week, which means we need to find so many loving homes for those cats and kittens every week,” said Amber Pinnon, coordinator of the adoption and volunteer program. “We have a lot of great cats ready and waiting to go home. This adoption event is the perfect opportunity for anyone considering visiting our shelter and finding a partner! “

To adopt, you must have an approved adoption application from WCAS. Adopters are encouraged to pre-approve their application prior to the event. Adoption requests can be submitted online by visiting here or at WCAS, 4517 N. Main St., Rockford.

All adoptions include a wellness exam, castration or neutering, microchip, vaccinations including a year-long rabies vaccination, flea and tick prevention, and more. Winnebago County residents also receive a one-year rabies registration badge.

Additional requirements are as follows:

· Adopters must be at least 18 years of age or older

· Must show government issued photo identification

· All cats and dogs in the household must have a rabies vaccination and a national pet license
