OVERLEA, MD – Health officials warn residents after a rabid coyote attacked a dog and its owner in Overlea this week.
The incident occurred on Thursday, October 21, in Holt Park near Overlea High School and Elmwood Elementary School.
The coyote was caught and tested positive for rabies.

The animal has since been euthanized.
Rabies is a serious infection that can be fatal unless people exposed to it receive immediate medical attention.
Anyone who believes they may have come into contact with the coyote is urged to contact the Baltimore County Animal Service at 410-832-7182 or 410-887-5963.
