Dr. Nicole (Nikki) Dalesandro Scherrer (PU DVM 2011), Faculty Member of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, was recently awarded a teaching award. Dr. Scherrer, Assistant Professor of Large Animal Clinical Ophthalmology at Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center, received the Class of 2021 Philadelphia Campus Teaching Award.
Born in Indiana, Dr. Scherrer received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and graduated summa cum laude from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana before enrolling at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated from DVM in 2011. She did an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital and then began a second rotating internship at the New Bolton Center and subsequent ophthalmological practice. She became a diplomat from the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2019.
