Top dog groomers compete for the most extravagant pet flair in the new Pooch Perfect series, which debuts Tuesday night on ABC.
It is hosted by Rebel Wilson and includes TV reality show star Lisa Vanderpump as a judge.
ABC 7’s Hosea Sanders spoke to veterinarian Dr. Callie Harris and Vanderpump, who once starred in Housewives of Beverly Hills.
“Everyone thinks their pooch is perfect, this is Milo. I think my little guard dog is perfect. What are you doing on the show?” Asked Sanders.
“If you look at it every week you will find that these groomers really show their skills in not just general grooming, but also artistry and creativity. So every week there will be something different for the pet,” Harris said .
Vanderpump says her canine charity saved two and a half million dogs.
“I came from a very emotional place of rescue after seeing so many dogs that didn’t have a good life,” said Vanderpump. “All of these dogs were the supermodels of dogs, they have absolutely beautiful coats, they have been pampered all their lives.”
“So you make them all fancy and purple and pink,” Sanders asked.
“Whatever the same, every pet that was involved in his grooming experience loved, loved, loved, loved,” Harris said.
“Lisa, how does that compare to the housewives,” Sanders asks Vanderpump.
“Oh my gosh, you know I’m going to get in trouble if I do, that slogan that I had – I’m passionate about dogs because I’m crazy about b- – – – -,” Vanderpump said.
In addition to the puppy love, there are heartfelt “human” stories.
“As a dog lover, a dog fanatic, I look forward to shedding some tears with you,” said Sanders. “Let’s do it, I love it!”
