ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (KDKA) – Ross Township police said a man was caught on surveillance tape brutally beating a small dog in the parking lot of a motel along McKnight Road.

According to the police, the attack took place on Tuesday, May 25, shortly after 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the InTown Suites.

The suspect is described as a black man in his twenties with a goatee. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white hoodie and dark sweatpants.

According to police, the video shows the man repeatedly beating, choking and slamming the little white dog.

Investigators say the suspect was with another man and woman and the dog was with them when they left the motel. After the animal ran to a meadow, the other man picked it up and carried it when the suspect saw the dog hit.

Police say the video then shows the suspect allegedly choking the dog, grabbing him by the second man, and then beating him against the back of an SUV. The dog is then thrown into the rear of the vehicle and police say the suspect is continuing to attack the animal.

“That person in the white hoodie grabs the dog in a stranglehold and slams it into the side of the GMC Yukon and then throws the dog into the car,” said Detective Sgt. Brian Kohlhepp of the Ross Township Police Department.

Later in the video, police say that bottles and other items are thrown at the suspect at some people who yell at him and “contradict these acts of cruelty to animals.”

The SUV later drives away from the parking lot with all three people and the dog.

According to the police, the man has reported and cooperated. Police said he handed in the dog, which is “in a good mood” and is being examined.

According to the police, no charges have been made yet, but could come after the evaluation.
