Police identify man struck by car, killed while walking his dog

KENT COUNTY, MI – A man from Grattan Township has died after being hit by a car while walking his dog on Tuesday, October 26, the sheriff’s deputies said.

Michael Lally, 61, was hit by around 7:30 p.m. trying to cross Five Mile Road in an unlit area. He was walking south with his dog when he was hit by a vehicle heading east.

He was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital by Rockford Ambulance, where he later died, Kent County Sheriff’s deputies said.

Police said speed and alcohol consumption did not appear to be factors in the accident. No quotations were given.

The fire brigades of the municipality of Grattan also responded.
