Driving under suspension: Rockside Road
Police responded to the area around Rockside and Brecksville Streets at 8:48 p.m. on April 4 to cause a traffic accident.
A K9 officer was deployed to track down the man who was found in a wooded area. He was reportedly bitten on the shoulder by the K9 after refusing police orders and taking “several steps toward officers”.
The man was taken to hospital with minor injuries and charged with suspension driving, leaving the scene of the accident and obstruction of official business.
Substance Abuse: Rockside Road
A driver was charged with attempted drug abuse at 12:32 am on April 3 when a police officer heard his car alarm go off while the driver was parked at a gas pump. The driver then allegedly started flashing his high beam before exiting the gas station parking lot.
An object that “looked like a candy wrapper” was also reportedly thrown out of a window. The driver was stopped over rubbish.
Marijuana and Xanax pills were found in the car. One passenger was cited for attempted drug abuse, the driver was warned of inadequate assistance, and another passenger was warned about trash.
Weapons: Quarry Lane
A driver who fell asleep behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Malibu with Arkansas plates was arrested on April 5 at 8:59 a.m. on gun and drug charges.
The man was seen in the La Quinta Inn parking lot with “a half-consumed bottle of Don Julio Tequila and his left hand in the waistband of his pants near his crotch,” reports say.
Concerned that the man might have a gun, the answering officer requested assistance and the man was awakened. A loaded pistol was found under the driver’s seat, along with marijuana, ecstasy, drug paraphernalia and more than $ 2,000 in cash.
The man was arrested for drug trafficking and possession of weapons.
Substance Abuse: Quarry Lane
A man was arrested for attempted substance abuse at 1:17 p.m. on April 5 when his brother called the police and reported that the man may be abusing drugs at a local hotel. The suspect was in the hotel room with drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was cited and taken to the Southwest General Health Center for treatment.
