PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium have appointed a new President and CEO.

Dr. Jeremy Goodman will take over the running of the facility on October 1st. He is the zoo’s eighth director since it opened in 1898.
Goodman is a veterinarian.

He is currently the executive director of the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island. He has also worked in zoos in New Jersey and Indiana.
He is also the accreditation inspector for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
In a press release, Dr. Goodman: “My family and I have visited Pittsburgh and the zoo, and we are excited to call Pittsburgh our new home. I look forward to working with the board of directors of the Zoological Society of Pittsburgh, the City of Pittsburgh, the leadership team and all staff to plan next steps at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. “
