Adena offers sports and wellness exams
CHILLICOTHE – As many parents and young athletes know, doing an exercise before the start of a new school sports season is a standard requirement. Whether your student is in elementary school or college, physical exercise is required to reduce sports-related injuries, discover underlying health problems, and prevent existing medical conditions that could lead to serious or even fatal physical problems.
To help student athletes and parents, Adena offers convenient facilities for sports and wellness exams through Adena Pediatrics and Adena Family Medicine. If a child is due for an annual wellness check-up, a sports check-up can be carried out at all Adena Family Medicine and Pediatrics locations at the same time. Most insurances even cover this as part of a wellness visit without incurring any costs.
Doing a sports exercise helps set a baseline for young athletes. As students get older, their bodies change. Caring for or awareness of early potential problems such as metabolic changes, pain from bone growth or joints can enable Adena doctors to take preventative measures. Young athletes who know they have a problem, weakness, or sensitivity can exercise to overcome or avoid certain physical ailments.
Adena’s Sport Physicals are comprehensive exams, not just basic screenings. Patients are examined by a doctor or an experienced practice provider who is specifically trained in the assessment techniques used in these examinations, such as:
- Complete medical history and physical exam
- Discussion of the child’s weight, height and body mass index
- Diet, sleeping habits, physical development and activity
- Health and Safety Risks and Preventive Health Recommendations
- Chronic Illness Status
- Vaccination updates
There is also an opportunity to discuss important topics such as avoiding drugs, tobacco and alcohol. It helps to build an open, trusting relationship with parents and patients so that they can turn to their provider with any questions or concerns.
Further information and options for making an appointment can be found at www.adena.org/sportsphysicals.
District auditor Tom Spetnagel announces new website
ROSS COUNTY – Ross County Auditor Tom Spetnagel has announced a brand new, completely redesigned website at audit.rosscountyohio.gov. It can be accessed from any web browser and is optimized for use on mobile devices and tablets.
“The new website is a major technological advance and enables us to offer more data availability and more functionality in the future,” said Spetnagel.
Users will find that the new website improves property search functionality and improves interactive map search to make it easier to find the information you need. It also includes useful calculator tools to help estimate property taxes and transfer fees, as well as a catalog of all the forms, reports, and other important documents published by the Court of Auditors.
The website was developed by Pivot Point of Ohio, a company that worked directly with Auditor Spetnagel to create the website. “I sought input directly from our local real estate professionals and home buyers and then worked with Pivot Point to meet their needs,” said Spetnagel. The finished product is the result of months of planning and teamwork, and it truly reflects a collaborative approach to addressing residents’ changing needs.
