MOHALI: Dr. Naresh Kocchar Deputy Director of the Punjab Veterinary Vaccine Institute Ludhiana, here today, has taken over as Registrar for the Punjab State Veterinary Council (PSVC).
The Council is a statutory body established under the Indian Veterinary Council Act 1984 with a mandate to regulate veterinary practice and register veterinary graduates in the state.
As an alumni of the College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana, Dr. Kocchar graduated in 1986 and completed his postgraduate degree in obstetrics and gynecology in 1996. He joined the Animal Husbandry Department as a Veterinary Officer in 1986 and also served as a Gynecologist Polyclinic, Bathinda, prior to his promotion to Director in 2017.
He was awarded the “Best Field Veterinarian Award” in 2017 and the “Distinguished Alumnus Award” in 2019. He also serves as the State Nodal Officer of the National Animal Disease Control Program (NADCP), a 100 percent centrally sponsored pan-Indian program for the control of foot and mouth disease and brucellosis.
After joining, Dr. Kocchar said his top priority was to ensure quality veterinary care for Punjab State’s cattle in addition to controlling the quackery.
