Seniors of Morehead State’s Veterinary Technology Program have passed the Veterinary Technology National Exam (VTNE), a required exam for obtaining a Veterinary Technology license, with a 100% pass rate.

“This is exceptional because a 100 percent pass rate is extremely difficult to achieve due to the difficulty of the exam,” says Dr. Philip Prater, professor of veterinary science. He added that this is the first time in several years that the program has achieved a 100% VTNE inventory rate.

The success is one of several for this year’s program. Program Alumna Leigha Wright (2014 Class) was named Licensed Veterinary Technician of the Year by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. Earlier this year, Intelligent.com named the program the nation’s premier veterinary associate degree program.

“I am very proud of the achievements of our students and of the efforts of our VT faculty for their work in preparing our students for this license exam,” said Prater. “Our VT program had a phenomenal year.”

MSU Veterinary Technology programs students gain hands-on experience at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital and Equine Health and Education Center in the Derrickson Agricultural Complex. The MSU offers both associate and bachelor’s degrees in veterinary technology.
