The depth of the Yahara River was unpredictable and dangerous.
The sky was getting darker by the minute.
Tim Kenny knew that time was running out to save his dog – Otis.
Calling the Monona Police Department was their only way to save their year-old lab trapped under a pier after jumping off the family’s boat and into the water.
“We called. They flew here like you don’t believe it. They took care of the problem, “Kenny explained.
The Monona police knew that time was running out and Quickly realized that the best way to get Otis out was through the pier.
Meanwhile, Kenny could only watch and hope that his best friend would be fine.
“I was emotional. Very emotional. I didn’t know if he was going to get out or not. He was really stuck underneath and I didn’t know if anything was wrapped around his neck, ”Kenny said.
Fortunately a team effort – ended in success.
Kenny says the moment of reunion with Otis is unmatched and it is all thanks in part to the rescue efforts of the two responding officers.
“The Monona Police Department did a great job and I thank them top to bottom … the entire crew,” said Kenny.
Kenny says Otis is still a little upset from that scary night, but in good health.
