If you have a dog, you are probably wondering if it is possible for your dog to be featured in the show. You’ll be happy to know the answer is yes. Read on to learn how to get your dog a place on Pooch Perfect.
How to get on pooch perfectly
Since Pooch Perfect airs in both the US and the UK, it’s important to note that the process will be a little different depending on where you and your pooch are.
United Kingdom
Applying for the UK version of Pooch Perfect seems relatively straightforward. People can apply on their dog’s behalf by submitting pictures and video footage of their dogs. Unfortunately, there is no link on the show’s website to fill out the application.
The show’s page on the BBC website states, “All dogs had to have experience of being groomed (and enjoying!) A professional, being fit and healthy, and needing a cut. All dogs needed a reference from their own groomer and veterinarian to check their health and temperament. The dogs had to have hair long enough to challenge the groomers and get a really good transformation. “Each of the dogs selected for the show was seen by a veterinarian, a dog groomer and an animal welfare advisor.
United States
American pet parents interested in bringing their dog to Pooch Perfect can apply through the Mystic Art Pictures website. You must be at least 18 years old and be willing and able to travel to Los Angeles, where the show is being filmed. All dogs must also be fully vaccinated. Unfortunately, the show is not intended for dogs at the moment.
Are dogs looked after during the filming?
Most pet parents would agree that leaving their dog alone with strangers makes them uncomfortable. Of course, safety is one of the top concerns of people when it comes to Pooch Perfect. According to Distractify, the series takes many precautions to ensure that all pets are safe, although it does not state exactly what measures are being taken. One thing we do know, however, is that a veterinarian is on set to address any health concerns that the dogs may experience.
Despite the show’s best efforts, viewers have already received some backlash. Since its premiere, several viewers have used social media accusing the show of abusing animals. A user named K_SheehanFL tweeted, “This show is a gross ad. This is not an art, it is animal abuse. #PoochPerfect ”. While another user added that the show is “cruelty to animals”.
However, not everyone feels that the dogs are being mistreated. A former groomer cut in on Twitter and said, “As a former groomer technician, I went to grooming competitions. Many wild af like this with subjects. And those who feel sorry for the dogs. Please do not. The dogs are having a great time., Loves the attention and praise. They don’t have a fashion sense like we do. & it washes out #PoochPerfect ”
If you are interested in bringing your dog into the show, it is important that you are familiar with the situation to the best of your knowledge.
Will Pooch Perfect be renewed for a second season?
So far, there is no word on whether or not Pooch Perfect will be brought back for another season. With the show being one of many to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the chances are that there will simply be delays in finding out what’s next for the show. As of now, it doesn’t seem like the ratings have been released for the American version of the show, so it’s difficult to say how well it is doing. One thing is certain, however, that the fact that many viewers view the show as animal abuse certainly won’t improve their chances of renewal.
