On Riverdale, the only rule seems to be that there are no rules (we’re talking about a show that had an entire season centered around a crazy board game). The only constant is Madelaine Petsch’s masterful portrayal of the nasty girl Cheryl Blossom, whose razor-sharp insults and classic red lipstick have become one of the most iconic parts of the series.

While she excels at playing the on-screen villain, she couldn’t be cuter in real life – or at least on the phone – if we talk about self-care, TikTok, and of course, skin care. As someone who has struggled with acne in the past, Petsch takes her skin care routine seriously, and her current partnership with Bliss is proof of it. “I just love Bliss. They have clean products and are very transparent about the contents of their products so you can actually be comfortable with what you put on your skin, ”she says to Glamor.

We met Petsch for a round of Big Beauty Questions. Read on for their answers.

Glamor: is there a beauty trend that you are obsessed with right now?

Madelaine Petsch: I love getting my nails done, which is difficult for an actor because a lot of roles don’t ask for it. I usually do nail art, even on the show. As long as I build in red, I can have what I want. My nail lady and I came up with some fun things. For one of my favorite sets, she made this bright red base with purple squiggly lines in the middle. I also really enjoy not wearing makeup on my days off if that’s a trend.

What beauty rule do you swear by?

Wash your face every night before bed. They’ll never catch me falling asleep, even at 3 a.m.

Fill in the blank. I love my hair …

When my hairstylist Marc Mena does it.

What do you always have in your bag when you are on set?

My dog and her dog bag. I have my wallet in case I need coffee or matcha. I have my skin care products so I can wash my face and get my face ready for bed when I’m done with work. And I have my guasha.

You can only use three beauty products for the rest of your life. What are they and why?

OK. One is my Gua Sha because it automatically drains my face. I see such a big difference every day when I use this. Then the youth got this pure retinol serum and the youth got this pure retinol moisturizer. I’m not going to talk about my age, but I think finding the ingredients that will lead to your goals and help maintain the youthful skin we all want is really important. Retinol is something I have been looking for in all of my products. It protects against the signs of aging and prevents fine lines from appearing, which is very helpful to me. And I actually feel the difference in my skin when I use it and I feel like I feel a difference in my pores. I have large pores, that helps me. Plus, that’s what I find when I’m using products that are meant to work together, like the serum and moisturizer together. I see a bigger difference than when I try to put a range of products together.

What is your goal to prepare music?

Probably Still Woozy’s new album.

You and some of the others Riverdale Girls were pretty open about you struggles with acne on social media. What made you want to share this?

I mean, I don’t think it should ever feel like I’m unraveling a heavy secret that I used to struggle with acne. It’s such a normal human thing to have skin sores. But I think it’s nice for people who see what I’m doing to feel like they’re not alone with it because it can definitely feel isolating. When I had this I felt less confident so I think when people look up to open up about these kinds of things you feel like, oh, if they can handle it, I can handle it.

How do you prefer to take a moment for yourself?
