CLEAR WATER (WQOW) – The Indianhead Kennel Club welcomed 600 dogs to their annual show at the Eau Claire County Fairgrounds. More specifically, the dog show is a confirmation show from the American Kennel Club.
“Every breed has a standard, and we try to breed by that standard, and the judges look at a dog and say, ‘This dog fits the standard better than this,'” said Kennel Club Vice President Stephanie Sorensen.
The dog show is an annual event that Sorensen says her favorite part is camaraderie.
“You have a group of like-minded people who care so much about purebred dogs,” she said. “We care about their appearance, we care about their temperament, we care about their health, we do a lot of health tests before we even think of breeding them, and so it’s like the culmination of all of us, them trying to bring the perfect dog to a show, but also being your family companion. “
The show continues on Sunday and anyone can come over and watch.
