Two people and a cat were rescued Monday from a sailboat taking water about 54 miles off Sarasota, the U.S. Coast Guard reported.
The two people on board the 35-foot ship are a father and son from Canada. They were rescued by a crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater.
The Coast Guard said in a press release that the couple and their cat were returned to Clearwater Air Station in good health.
Coast Guard officials said they received an emergency beacon beacon (EPIRB) on Monday morning. An MH-60 Jayhawk flight crew found the ship “de-masted and on water,” the press release said.
