GREENFIELD, Ind .– (BUSINESS WIRE) – Veterinarians in the US now have a new, innovative option for flea and tick control as Elanco Animal Health Incorporated (NYSE: ELAN) launches Credelio Cat, the first oral flea and tick product for cats.

Credelio Cat starts killing fleas in cats within 6 hours. The small, chewable product maintains fast-acting, long-lasting flea efficacy in cats 8 weeks and older. Credelio Cat also protects cats from 6 months old against black-legged ticks all month long. Black-legged ticks are the most common type of tick in cats in the United States1

Indications

Credelio CAT kills adult fleas and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in cats and kittens 8 weeks of age and older and weighing 2 pounds or more for one month.

Credelio CAT is also indicated for the treatment and control of black leg tick infestations for one month in cats and kittens 6 months of age and weighing 2 pounds or more.

Lotilaner belongs to the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with neurological side effects such as tremors, incoordination, and seizures. Neurological side effects have been reported in cats receiving isoxazoline-class drugs, including in cats with no history of neurological disease. Use with caution in cats with a history of neurological disorders. The safety of Credelio CAT has not been established in breeding, pregnant and lactating cats. The effectiveness of Credelio CAT against black-legged ticks in kittens under 6 months of age has not been studied. The most commonly reported side effects are weight loss, rapid breathing, and vomiting. Refer to the Credelio CAT product label or ask your veterinarian for complete safety information.
