The San Diego Humane Society’s 35th Annual Fur Ball Gala resumes on Saturday, October 2, from 6pm to 11pm at the nonprofit’s headquarters at 5500 Gaines St. Open to people and their dogs, the dog-friendly fundraiser is “inspired by the glamor of old Hollywood” and features food, live music, raffles and live auctions to raise funds for the nonprofit’s services, which this year has more than 40,000 Animals are made available.
Highlights include a cocktail reception for humans and dogs in their “finest attire,” as well as vegetarian cuisine and a selection of wines prepared by Chef Jeffrey Strauss from the Pamplemousse Grill, as well as live and silent auctions with prices.
The event will follow health protection guidelines. All gala attendees must provide proof within 72 hours of the event that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have received a negative COVID-19 PCR test.
Founded in 1880, the non-profit provides programs to strengthen human-animal bonds, prevent cruelty and neglect, community education and medical care, and care for animals awaiting adoption.
Together with the San Diego campus, the non-profit organization operates animal shelters in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego.
