Schoolteacher Zainab al-Obeidy has turned her home into an animal shelter where she cares for and treats animals from the street before giving them up for adoption (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) TEACHERS AND PET WORKERS , ZAINAB AL – OBEY, SAY: “Those who suffer most on the street are the little puppies who are without their mothers. First, I examine them at the vet to see if they need an operation or something like that. Then I bathe them and take care of them until I find someone to adopt them. ” The 26-year-old has helped more than 50 animals. She is currently home to five dogs and eight cats (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) TEACHERS AND PET SUCCESSORS, ZAINAB AL-OBEIDY, SAY: “People first made fun of me and said, ‘ People die and you take care of animals. ‘ But I didn’t care.
