In the section connecting The Pastures on Brookfield Road to Wheat Close on a new estate near Lubenham Hill, walkers have piled black bags of dog poop.

Dog walkers who dump plastic bags containing their pets’ dirt in an alley in Market Harborough were branded “gross” by a local council today.

The perpetrators have piled up black bags of dog poop in the section connecting The Pastures on Brookfield Road to Wheat Close on a new estate near Lubenham Hill.

Dog poop is regularly bagged and dumped in the alley and left up on the path that leads into a field and landscape.

Cllr Knowles now urges dog walkers to toss their trash bags in the proper trash cans instead of performing the despicable practice – and poses a health hazard.

“These people even managed to pick up and collect the dog poop.

“So why can’t you bother to dispose of the bags properly?

“Simply disposing of them this way is not only antisocial, but also a potential health hazard,” said Cllr Knowles, who heads the Harborough District Council Liberal Democrats group.

“The perpetrators show a hideous disregard for other members of our Market Harborough community.

“So please stop and think next time.

“And stop leaving bags of dog poop on our streets and in our open spaces in Market Harborough and the rest of the county.”

An angry local dog walker said, “I’ve picked up six bags of smelly dog poop from this alley in the past four days alone.

“Idiots throw them both in the cut and on the fields.

“These plastic bags won’t break down for hundreds of years.

“You are a permanent ugly spot in our landscape.

“It’s a disgusting thing – and gets all dog walkers a bad name,” he said.

“So pack up your dog’s dirt – and throw the bag in a trash can where it belongs.”
