A couple embarked on a three-hour journey to rescue their late grandfather’s Australian shepherd, who was about to be euthanized because of his deteriorating health.
In the course of the coronavirus pandemic and elsewhere, several animals are at risk of being abandoned by their owners. Often times, people leave their pets alone for financial or other unfortunate reasons.
Regardless, saying goodbye to their owners can be devastating for these furry friends. An Australian shepherd experienced the same heartbreak when his elderly gentleman died of COVID-19, leaving him alone and possibly put to sleep.
But things changed for the better when TikToker Ashton Hart found out about the tragic news. He hadn’t met his grandpa in 6 years and wondered if he had any pets that he had left behind. Then he found Oatmilk Latte. He said to the dodo:
“There was no question that we would adopt him – my husband had wanted a dog for a while, and we had just taken on foster care and wanted to volunteer with PAWS to make a new friend.”
Hart shared that he had been linked to animal activism and didn’t want the cute dog to be euthanized at any cost, so he and his husband picked him up immediately.
However, Oatmilk Latte was in very bad shape. Not only was he obese, he was also covered in filth and matted fur. The dog even had health complications, but Hart and his husband knew he was perfect for them. Speaking to Bored Panda, Hart revealed:
“Oat milk is a very cute dog. When we first took him to the hairdresser, they raved about how gentle and kind he was and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. “
Hart shared that he and his husband even developed a fitness and nutrition plan for him to help get Oatmilk Latte back on its feet.
Additionally, the adorable dog was obviously in a gloomy mood as it was still mourning the loss of its owner. But Hart and his husband refused to give him up and decided to give him his time to process it all. He further stated:
“Losing someone is hard, especially for dogs. They rely on us for everything. Aside from my grandfather’s neglect to take care of the dog’s health, I assume that he loved his animal in his own way. “
The TikTok user expressed his pure love for Oatmilk Latte, saying that while he and his husband didn’t know what he looked like at first, they knew he was perfect for them as soon as they saw him.
From now on, the adorable furry companion needs incessant love, care, and attention in order to fully recover. We are delighted that Oatmilk Latte was fortunate enough to find a new home and finally have the chance of a happy, peaceful life.
