Hello Winston! How are you? I am a 2 year old lovely black cat who has lived at the shelter since April. I am male and quite tall! I was brought in as a stray.
I consider myself very friendly and sociable. I get along with older children and should be the only pet in the household, the king of the castle, so to speak. I love to get my long beautiful straight black hair brushed, I like to play with magic wand toys and play with mice. Although I am clingy, I don’t like being overpowered.
Just a reminder to Winston and your readers that black cats are sometimes overlooked in animal shelters. We don’t take photos well for websites and newspapers and in our cages we sometimes somehow blend into the background, no matter how colorful our personalities are!
Adopt a Shelter Cat Month officially started in June – well, here I am! Please tell your readers to visit me, I will happily take the time to say hello. I promise this black cat will only bring luck to someone! Thank you very much. – Dear hunter
Winston says:
Hello Hunter and thanks for writing. What a great photo! Thank you for reminding us that June is the month of Adopt a Shelter Cat – what better way to add a loving companion to your family than to stop by the shelter and meet Hunter and all of his friends.
Good luck my friend! – With love, Winston

Paws on the green
Help us celebrate our biggest fundraising event of the year: The Paws on the Green golf tournament. The event will take place on Monday, August 2nd, at Teugega Country Club, 6801 Golf Course Road.
Please get your golf foursome early. The cost is $ 150 per golfer and you can enjoy a day of golf along with lunch – dinner – snacks on the course – entry gifts (golf shirt and golf balls), prizes and more.
Sponsors are required for the tournament. Become a main sponsor or a hole sponsor it is a great way to promote your business while also helping our animal shelter. Major sponsors also receive advertising on the Humane Society website and on social media. Call Lynn or Peggy at 315-336-6870 for more information. We are also looking for sponsors who support our shelter and at the same time receive advertising for their business.
Appointments are desirable
As it is such a hectic time of the year and in line with the CDC’s health and safety guidelines, we ask anyone interested in visiting our shelter to make an appointment beforehand.
This applies to the delivery of animals and to possible meetings and greetings for adoption purposes. Donations can be made at any time without an appointment. Even if you come by without an appointment, we ask for your patience and please wait in your car until we wait for the person in front of you.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Cat’s Pride Litter Program
We participate in the Cat’s Pride Litter for Good program – we received 4,000 pounds of cat litter based on nominations from the community. This is an ongoing promotion. The more nominations, the more litter we get.
Trash, as you can imagine, is a huge expense for us so this would be a wonderful saver for our shelter.
The population is invited to participate as follows:
1. Go to catspride.com and sign up for the free Cat’s Pride Club.
2. Click the nominate button to help us get bedding.
3. Enter the bonus code: 4GOOD and you will double your nomination for the shelter.
4. Buy a green pitcher of Cat’s Pride Fresh and Light – each time you do this, another pound of litter will be added to the total donation.
