ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A family cat in northern St. Louis nearly burned one of its nine lives after spending more than 24 hours in a tree.

A little boy couldn’t bear to lose her, so the pros came out to bring her down. “I heard her meow, then my granddaughter said, ‘Grandma, she’s in the tree,'” said Waquita Jones

Her grandson’s cat, named Italy, climbed a tree in front of her home in northern St. Louis, and she didn’t move. “She would come to the trunk of the tree and then she would stop,” said Jones.

Italy is not just any old family pet. It provides comfort for 8 year old Dallas who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder. “My grandson cried all morning,” said Jones.

So the experts were called. Jason and EJ Tuner perform Atypical Cat Rescue. The brothers were contacted after a family member pointed out their business to Jones.

Dallas was at school while the rescue was in progress and his big brother recorded the entire rescue today so he can see it when he gets home.

The brothers helped out for free to save Italy. “We were off work so we said let’s get the cat, let’s do something positive for someone today,” said EJ.

“I’m very grateful. I can see the smile on grandson’s face when he comes home from school today, ”said Jones.
