If you’re the type who knows all about your favorite chefs, did you know that Bobby Flay is a serious cat person? According to recent reports, his beloved Maine Coon cat inspired Flay’s latest launch: A new pet food line called Made by Nacho.
Granted, Iron Chef fans have seen Flay fire dishes under the gun many times, but as Deadline reports, Made by Nacho was developed over a careful two-year period of perfecting the recipes to ensure that Kitty would be customers are satisfied. It is reported that Flay also developed the cat food in collaboration with Katja Lang, a veterinary doctor.

“Made by Nacho offers wet cat food formulas, dry snack diets and freeze-dried protein treats,” reports Deadline. “The formulas include cage-free chicken, grass-fed beef, and sustainably grown salmon, balanced with pumpkin, cranberries, blueberries, and kale to provide antioxidants and other essential nutrients. The formulas also include millet and oats for added fiber as prebiotics and probiotics to aid digestive health . “
The proceeds from the sale of the cat food will go to the EveryCat Health Foundation and the Best Friends Animal Society. But even with such a philanthropic spirit, Flay’s introduction of cat food also seems to highlight its form-fitting competitive side: “Dogs have led [research and development] I’m excited to be working with Nacho and educating the wider cat community about cat health, “said Flay.
For dog lovers, those might be fighting words … but for cat lovers, Made by Nacho will be available for sale on April 19th at PetSmart and on the brand’s website.
Cat carers may also want to try the popular cat food brand that was recalled earlier this week.
