TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Tiger Creek Animal Refuge and Guinness World Records judges have now confirmed that a tiger in the refuge is the oldest known live tiger in captivity.
Bengali will turn 26 on August 31st. She joined Tiger Creek in 2000 after retiring from five years at Marine World Africa USA in California.

“The life expectancy of tigers in the wild is 8-10 years while tigers in captivity have a life expectancy of 15-20,” said Melanie Wesson, Visitor Services Coordinator at Tiger Creek. “Bengali is in good health and we are looking forward to celebrating her next birthday!”

Tiger Creek says they are thrilled to be blessed with the opportunity to care for and house the oldest known living tiger in the world. After all, you don’t work with a living legend every day.
