Mercy Health Bethlehem residents got into the spirit of Bring Your Dog to Work Day on Friday with a visit from three furry friends of the staff. Lifestyle assistant Sarah Nind brings her Pomeranian poodle paddy to the geriatric care facility every week and took an additional trip with him on Friday. “We used to have a program where we brought Delta Dogs, but with the coronavirus pandemic we couldn’t do that anymore,” she said. “I started with Paddy when he was a puppy and the residents were very interested in him and their past.” Everyone is always happy to see him and call him to be petted. “It’s a chance for people to bring up their past and talk about what they did to their past pets.” READ MORE: The home prides itself on being one of the most dog-friendly retirement homes in Australia, and residents love interacting with the pups. Carmel Grose was overjoyed to see Paddy. “I’ve always loved dogs, even when I was a little kid I always made a fuss when I saw a dog,” she said. “I’ve had a lot to do with big dogs, but I still like the little ones. “I’ve always been just a dog lover and Paddy’s a lovely little guy.” News for the community.
