Battlefield 2042 is getting one last major update before the holidays with a variety of bug fixes and balance changes to make the game better. Update 3.1 offers improvements in hit registration as well as balance changes for recoil and projectile distribution as well as a wide nerf for the ranger bot. (I think he was a bad boy).
There will be “improvements to the consistency of registering bullets hits” as explained in the update notes, although we will have to wait for the update to go live to see how these work in practice. The developers also note that “Ranger’s effective combat range and overall health have been reduced,” so expect the attack robot to be a little less effective from here.
The big balance changes are related to recoil and balance distribution – in short, guns should be a little more accurate across the board from here. Accuracy will degrade faster when using burst fire, but it “now takes a little longer for weapons to become too imprecise with sustained fire”. The developers say that “via aggressive recoil jumps” have also been withdrawn for the AK24, LCMG, PKP-BP, SFAR-M GL and PP-29.
The accuracy of hip fire for SMGs has been improved, and the dispersion and recoil for LMGs have been decreased. There are also “additional improvements in recoil control for all weapons, especially automatic weapons”. If you feel like your goal is improving after 3.1 drops, there are many reasons for it.
Update 3.1 is expected to be released on December 9th at 12 p.m. PST / 3 p.m. EST / 8 a.m. GMT for all platforms. In the meantime, check out our guide to the best Battlefield 2042 weapons, and for more FPS games, you can follow this link.
