Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine is inviting applications for a position in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. This appointment can be a tenure or a non-tenure depending on the applicant’s objectives. This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be part of a team of 4 involved in providing the feed animal component of the DVM curriculum, which includes teaching, clinical assignments, and research and scientific activities.

The following qualifications are required:

  • DVM or equivalent degree
  • Diplomatic status or eligibility for board certification by ACVIM, ACVS, ABVP or ACT
  • Proof of excellent clinical and communication skills
  • A strong commitment to student needs and an understanding of student centered learning
  • Eligibility for Veterinary Licensing in the state of Arizona

Midwestern University is a private, not-for-profit organization offering academic and postgraduate education in the health sciences. The addition of Veterinary Medicine to the Glendale campus (fully accredited by the Council on Education in 2018) provided an excellent opportunity to train students on the principles of One Health at Arizona’s first Veterinary College.

The Animal Health Institute consists of the Equine and Bovine Center (EBC), the Diagnostic Pathology Center (DPC) and the Companion Animal Clinic (CAC). The EBC is a large animal school that houses small herds of cattle and horses. This facility includes a clinical skills teaching laboratory that houses a variety of simulators and models for large animals, arenas, and indoor and outdoor teaching and treatment areas for live animals. The clinical service for farm animals from EBC consists of an outpatient recovery clinic and an outpatient clinic in the greater Phoenix area. The case number includes small ruminants, cattle, domestic pigs and camelids. If you are interested, there is the possibility of making poultry. The EBC is fully equipped with on-site ultrasound and handheld, handheld x-ray, endoscopy, laser and other patient-side chemistry analyzers. The livestock service is supported by other in-house services, including anesthesia, surgery, diagnostic anatomical and clinical pathology, and microbiology. The adjoining DPC and CAC are state-of-the-art facilities. The pathology includes a 5300 square meter autopsy floor, a gross pathology teaching theater, a fully equipped histopathology laboratory, an 800 square meter BSL3-enabled autopsy suite and 1200 square meters of teaching / teaching space. The Companion Animal Clinic is a 111,000 square foot modern and innovative small animal clinic.
