Assist save a canine’s coronary heart this Valentine’s Day

SHELBURNE, Vt. (WCAX) – Passion 4 Paws just started its Have A Heart fundraiser.

The Shelburne Animal Shelter is raising funds to fund heartworm surgeries for rescue dogs, which require a series of painful injections over a period of four to eight weeks. The organizers say 40 percent of the dogs in their care tested positive for heartworm. If left untreated, the disease can lead to death.

“It costs our rescue about $ 75,000 a year to treat all of these dogs, and it’s an ongoing problem and it’s a big chunk of our money we spend just treating these dogs, which you have to do. We love our dogs, but this too is a necessary thing that we must do for the dog’s health, ”said JP Coseno of Passion 4 Paws.

Passion 4 Paws wants to raise $ 5,000. The fundraiser is now open and will be closed next Sunday. You can donate through their website.
