Forum on Demand, June 10th-Dec. 31

The college, whose 2020 annual forum has been canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions, has made part of the canceled forum available via recorded webinars on a virtual platform from June 10th. These consist of more than 80 recorded sessions, over 300 ePoster research summaries, and more than 79 continuing education credits approved by the Register of Approved Continuing Education. All content is available until December 31st and can be easily accessed by registrants via the college’s forum website and mobile app.

Awards

Robert W. Kirk Award for Professional Excellence
Dr. David Twedt (Iowa State ’72) of Fort Collins, Colorado for excellence and dedicated service to the veterinary profession. Dr. Twedt is Professor of Internal Medicine for Small Animals in the Department of Clinical Sciences at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedicine. Known for his expertise in liver and gastrointestinal disorders in dogs and cats, he has developed techniques that use endoscopy and laparoscopy to visualize a patient’s internal structures. Dr. Twedt, diplomat of ACVIM and past president of the Department of Internal Medicine for Small Animals, was co-editor of “Kirk’s Current Veterinary Therapy”, Volumes 14 and 15.

ACVIM Lee and Inge Pyle Service Award
Dr. Rebecca Gompf (Ohio State ’75) of Knoxville, Tennessee, for outstanding and dedicated service to the college as a volunteer. Dr. Gompf is an Associate Professor of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where her clinical and research interests are in cardiology. As a diplomat for ACVIM, she served as the college’s cardiology secretary for 33 consecutive years and previously chaired several of its committees.
