Thursday was a foodie day, with National Lasagna Day, Chili Dog Day, and Chicken Wing Day falling on the same day. If you didn’t know there was such a day, you are not alone. We wouldn’t have known if a resident of the Burlington County Animal Shelters hadn’t protested. Heavy D had circled the date on his little kitten calendar and was quite worried when he got his normal old cat food instead of a fancy feast.
If you missed the festivities, this culinary motivated guy will be happy to help you indulge. But at least keep it low in carbohydrates, because Heavy D is shockingly a bit overweight.
Pets of the Week: Sounds of Summer – Diamond and Rowina share their playlists
While Heavy D may have got his name because he is a lyric genius with unparalleled rap skills, chances are he earned the nickname because of his stately size.
Heavy D weighs 20 pounds and the “overweight lover” is as cute and lovable as can be. Heavy D is around five years old and a loving boy full of ‘chunky’ charm. While big guys need love too, Heavy D is secretly hoping to follow in his namesake’s footsteps and get leaner … and possibly start a record label. This friendly guy came to the shelter because of his owner’s health problems and Heavy D is ready to go back to the sweet life at home. Heavy D is said to be a lap cat that should come in handy during the cold winter months.
Now that you’ve found Heavy D, what are you going to do about it? Of course, submit an application for adoption online! Go to the Burlington County Animal Shelter’s petango page (petango.com, enter the shelter’s zip code 08060, then go to the shelter page and click the picture of Heavy D) then call the shelter at 609 -265-5073 (ext. 4.) To) arrange a meeting.
Pets of the Week: You Won’t Find Them In The Club – Shyann, Sasha are residents who need a home
Priscilla isn’t a foodie – you don’t look like that chewing lasagna and chili dogs! – but she’s a bit of an expert on candy.
Priscilla is a loving, cuddly dog who loves greeting her volunteer friends with dog kisses. She really loves people and can’t wait to have a family of her own to pamper her with cuddles and endless devotion. Priscilla is a special girl and is looking for a special adoptive child. She has been diagnosed with an enlarged heart, which means she needs a quiet home to make sure she isn’t overexcited.
Priscilla loves to go for a walk, but her level of activity also needs to be monitored and controlled. A few short walks a day are ideal for Priscilla. So if gentle neighborhood walks are your thing, Priscilla might be for you!
Priscilla walks very well on a leash and always takes time to smell the flowers and enjoy the summer breeze. Priscilla knows life moves pretty fast and if you don’t stop and look around every now and then, you could be missing out. (She’s also a movie buff).
Would you like to enjoy life on the slow lane with Priscilla? Submit an adoption application online by visiting the Burlington County Animal Shelter’s petango page (petango.com, enter the shelter’s zip code 08060, then go to the shelter page and click on Priscilla’s picture) and call the shelter at 609-265-5073 (extension 4) to make an appointment.
