BOSTON –
The MSPCA and Northeast Animal Shelter will soon accept adoption applications for dozens of cats rescued from Louisiana after Hurricane Ida.
On Saturday a planeload of 45 cats flew from Louisiana to Massachusetts and are now housed in the animal shelters of both organizations.
This is the third Ida-related transport that MSPCA and NEAS have jointly arranged since the storm. The first two groups consisted of pets already living in Louisiana animal shelters, and the recent arrivals were directly driven out by the storm and could not be reunited with their owners, the MSPCA said.
Right now, the shelters are evaluating the cats and will cater to any health needs before moving them to new homes, the MSPCA said.
Anyone interested in adoption can email neas.org/adopt or mspca.org/adopt for information about the adoption process.
MSPCA and NEAS have relocated more than 2,800 pets from all of the southern states to Massachusetts since January.
