SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Bobbie, the first European-style organic baby formula made in the USA to meet FDA requirements, announces its very first masterclass. The course, which delves into the science, rules and regulations of infant formula, takes place on the Instagram story platform. The 30-minute self-paced training module enables healthcare professionals to learn in a modern way.
Bobbie’s free masterclass, available at www.instagram.com/bobbie, has been approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for Registered Dietitians (RDNs) and Nutrition and Dietitians (NDTRs) to earn 0.5 CPEUs . After completing the course, participants will be asked to take a short quiz after which they can download their CPEU certificate directly.
“Kudos to Bobbie for this accessible approach for RDNs to earn CPEUs,” said Donna Martin, EdS, RDN, LD, SNS, FAND and former President of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. “You don’t have to save any passwords, just open Instagram, enjoy the learning journey and download the certificate directly. Modernized learning at its best. ”
“It’s great that Bobbie is using Instagram to reach more RDNs and make CPEUs more accessible,” said Malina Malkani, MS, RDN, CDN, brand partner and author of Simple & Safe Baby-Led Weaning. “This platform offers healthcare professionals an innovative and engaging way to keep up to date with the latest industry research and regulations.”
Bobbie’s first master class was created by Elieke Kearns, PhD, RD and Christina Berberich, PharmD, MPH, RD. The course examines the similarities and differences between US and European regulations, as well as the dangers of illegally importing formulas. Bobbie infant formula is modeled on breast milk and designed to meet many European standards for critical ingredients such as DHA and iron while meeting all FDA requirements.
A recent study found that 20% of parents (one in five) who feed their infants infant formula illegally imported non-FDA-registered European infant formula, despite risks such as shipping and storage problems, differences in labels and definitions, and lack of it European recall information for US parents. In May 2018, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released a memorandum expressing concern about the increasing use of imported formulas. In addition, the 2020-2025 Nutritional Guidelines for Americans clearly state that infant formula “should be improperly and illegally imported into the United States without mandatory FDA review and surveillance.”
“This is an extremely relevant topic as importing infant formula from Europe is a new trend that healthcare professionals should be willing to speak confidently about, especially given the recent FDA recalls advising customers not to use imported products Dispose of them safely. ”said Melissa Joy Dobbins, MS, RDN, CDCES host of Sound Bites Podcast, named” One of the Best RD-Run Podcasts “by Today’s Dietitian and” 1 in 10 Nutritional Report “by US News & World Report Podcasts to add to your playlist “selected.
“We are excited to be working with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to bring modern educational content to RDNs and NDTRs, the trusted leaders in food and nutrition,” said Elieke Kearns, Medical Affairs Lead at Bobbie. “Bobbie is a next-generation infant formula that meets the needs of modern parents and healthcare professionals alike.”
